When should I format/wipe my HDD?

ChalzZy

Hey guys!

I want to use my old 1tb HDD in a new setup as a secondary drive and I want to completely wipe the drive.

Should I format it during the windows installation, or should I put in the drive after the windows installation and then wipe it?

Thanks!

During the Windows installation will be easier.

If I did that, it'd completely remove everything off the drive, correct?

No, he is using it as a SECONDARY drive.

The hard drive should not be plugged in while he is installing windows.

He should install windows on the main drive, then plug in this drive and just format it in disk management or explorer.

This will most likely be a "quick format". If you want to do a better format, you should do it after you have installed windows. You can also install other software, to better format your HDD, if you are worried about disk restoration.
