WiFi Connection Problems...

Okay, so here's the deal. I have 3 computers in 1 room, 2 of which have pretty decent wifi compared to my main rig. The one with problems literally has the router beside it. The others are about 4-3 meters away. I've checked drivers, took out the wifi card in my pc and put it back in. got a new antenna, and etc... I was wondering if any of you guys could have an idea as to what the problem is. The router is kinda junk to be honest Cisco EA3500. My ISP is Comcast and is rated at 175 Mbps and I know i'm not going to get that with this router but im geting 40mbps to 2mbps. WTF

Use a network cable

 

try making sure no cable are blocking the antennas direct line of sight to the router. failing that try using another/new wireless adapted (or better yet use a ethernet cable)

With wireless its pretty rare to maintain the full 175mbps speed, ethernet should always be the first option, i only ever go wireless if i cant route the ethernet cable to my device.

In fact most wireless devices I know have a link speed of 150mbps cap.

 

If trying to diagnose problems better to use a cable as the goto figure.. so in other words look at the cable connection speed, then see what's up with the wifi and why it can't get that speed.

What wireless standard does the wireless card in your rig adhere to? Also, is there a way you can test your connection rate to your wireless device? Is this speed a consistent result?
