My new build is going to be in the Fractal Node 202, I just need some guidance on what sort of GPU cooler to buy:

Does anybody know if i would be better using the mini version of the Zotac 1060 or the smaller version of the EVGA 1060? Or the asus turbo "blower style" 1060? 6GB is the card im looking at, but im trying to figure out whether it would be better to use a smaller GPU and use the extra room to include a 120mm fan as an intake for fresh air to help keep things such as my mechanical drive cool and my graphics card with enough cool air to not thermal throttle.

you're better off with the blower. however, you'll have higher temps.

which zotac and evga cards specifically?

"Sulit" (adj.) something that is worth it

i7 8700K 4.8Ghz delidded / Corsair H100i V2 / Asus Strix Z370-F / G.Skill Trident Z RGB 16GB 3200 / EVGA GTX 1080Ti FTW3 / ASUS ROG SWIFT PG279Q

Samsung 850 EVO 500GB & 250GB - Crucial MX300 M.2 525GB / Fractal Design Define S / Corsair K70 MX Reds / Logitech G502 / Beyerdynamic DT770 250Ohm

SMSL SD793II AMP/DAC - Schiit Magni 3 / PCPP

Old Rig

i5 2500k 4.5Ghz | Gigabyte Z68XP-UD3P | Zotac GTX 980 AMP! Extreme | Crucial Ballistix Tactical 16GB 1866MHz

For a 202 I'd go blower. IMO that's the smartest choice here.

The GPU temps should be better with the aftermarket full size design, but the CPU will get more toasty. If you are after a low TDP cpu (like a i5 6500) there isn't much to worry about, and going full size aftermarket GPU is ok, but if the CPU is going to be anything hotter, I'd go blower on the GPU.

If you plan on adding more hardrives than the 2 on the small 2-drive cage, you might want to go mini.

The 6500 was the cpu in mind! I was only really looking at one mechanical and one ssd, i have spare pc parts that im going to build a server with

oh, then pretty much any GPU should be fine.

Mind you if you stay with the stock CPU cooler it will be a bit noisy at times, temps should be under control (considering the 1060 uses little power) even in summer. However I'd suggest a cooler like a cryorig C7, it should keep the noise issue under control.

I was either going to use the C7 or the Noctua one that BitWit (AwsomeSauce) used initially in his "Go Anywhere Do Anything PC"

I think they are about the same regardiing temps, the noctua one seems a bit expensive for such a tiny cooler. The C7 should suffice IMO.

I didn't like Kyle using an AiO on that system, I would be afraid to shake that rig on the go, he already had a water hose broke on his test bench thanks to him being rough with it, he is just asking for another PC accident.

Yeah i get that, im really not prepared to lose all my investment thanks to an AiO. I think the c7 is the way to go, thanks for the help (and opinions)!
