21:9 curved vs 21:9

Alir

I currently have a small LG 25" ultrawide/ 21:9 monitor. I want to upgrade to a higher size and hopefully at least 1440p - I don't think there's anything larger in 21:9.

In addition to that, I'm thinking of looking for one that is curved. My question is, is a curved 21:9 monitor worth it? Has anyone tried one and compared the experience to a monitor that is not curved?

I intend to do mostly everything on the monitor. Gaming, movies, work, word processing, programming, web development and some other things I have probably forgotten. I also game on consoles sometimes so I would be restricted to 16:9 but that isn't really a problem for me - the Xbox is in reality just a Halo machine.

Putting programming and in particular web development out there, where straight lines can become important, would the monitor being curved hinder my ability to accurately make websites? I'm wondering whether the curve perverts straight lines or not. Or whether it makes them look more natural instead.

I sit directly in front of my desk so my head would be probably about 1 meter away from the screen.

curved monitors are great, when you put your head in a vice.

every curved monitor has this "sweet spot" where all points on the screen are equally far from your face, but the moment your head moves away from this sweet spot you lose the effect, and it starts working inversely -- making things worse.

BTW if you want higher than 1440p there's always this:

lol JK

IMO curved is not worth the price difference (usually a 34" 1440p can be had for $400ish, while curved ones are $550+)

Mostly, it's just sexier, not really helpful in most cases.

Not going to lie, for the U3415W it works. I think it helps that it's ultrawide, seems like the sweet-spot is a bit bigger.

is that an IPS panel? the viewing angles on a good IPS basicly get rid of all the weet spot issues, but also all the benefits.
