Noctua cpu cooler

I'm currently in the process of getting parts for my PC and decided to go with a noctua CPU cooler. I at first had the noctua nh-d15s as my cooler, but I saw the nh-u14s and thought I would simply go with that since it's a little cheaper and performs extremely well. Just wanted to get some opinions if this is a good idea, or should I stay with the D-15s

Sure, the U14S performs exceptionally well for its price... the D15S does cool a bit better but that should be a given since you're comparing a single tower cooler with a dual tower one.

Be nice to each other boys and girls. And don't cheap out on a power supply.

It's a Noctua with all the good and all the bad.

Pros: Very likely that it's going to be the most silent and most efficient out of all similar options. The fan will definitely outlast any non-industrial option, Noctua fans are very durable. Other Noctuas have issues with the fan mounts hitting the GPU and the fan being in the way of the RAM, but not this one.

Cons: The fan isn't standard (It has the blade size of a 140mm fan but the mounting holes of a 120mm fan) so should the need arise to replace it, you're kind of married with Noctua.

the NH-U14S is a good cooler for its price indeed, but you cant really compare the two because one is a single tower whereas the D15S is a dual tower cooler, so it might perform a little bit better than a single tower.

Yeah I know. Just wanted to know if it was worth sticking with the u14s for about 20 - 30 bucks cheaper. From what I've seen though, I'll stick with the u14s

You can buy similar fans from other manufacturers as well, e.g. Scythe, Deepcool, etc.

The performance difference between U14S and D15S is slim, usually just 1-3°C. If you don't want to push things to the max, the U14S should work nicely!

What about for an intel core i7 6700k which I will probably overclock in the future?

depends on what loads you'll be doing and what your cpu is. if its a 6600k the U14S is more than enough.

It's an excellent choice and is likely the most well-rounded cooler due to its performance and form factor.

I'd say try a NH-D15, it's an amazing cooler. However, if you have to the U14S works well if you don't plan to overclock that hard
