Hi all,

i'm going through and upgrading my computer now.

currently i have ASUS H81M-Plus motherboard thats a micro ATX and I want to upgrade to a full ATX motherboard.

I use the ASRock Z97 Extreme4, which looks good and overclocks well. I think they released the Extreme5 version of it now, which is probably even better. If you want to overclock I'd go with one of those or an ASUS board.

Wow! That's a ton for a MOBO

Just get any motherboard from a reputable manufacturer like ASUS, MSI, GIGABYTE, Etc.

If you have a K processor, get a Z97 board, if not get an H or B series

Well if you don't have a k CPU don't waste your money on a better board lol better boards mean more overclocking and that's about it.

I.e. get the board that has the features you want to be able to use.

We can recommend boards all day, but unless it has the features you want, you may not end up liking our suggestions.

I own amd products so all I know is that chipset doesn't matter until overclcoking, because there are some nice boards with lower end chipsets.

I'm not arguing about chipset choice. I am merely pointing out that you should buy a board with features that you want on it since they can't be added after the fact. Do you want m.2 support? If so does it matter if it is SATA or PCIe based? How many SATA ports do you want? How many USB 3.0 ports do you want? Does it matter if it has type C ports? Stuff like that is what matters most imo. Different chipsets have different features and if you can get everything you want with a cheaper chipset then save money and get the cheaper board. That's why I said he needs to find boards that fall in line with what he wants to be able to do with it.

All these images are showing what the H87 and Z97 chipsets support. I still say the OP needs to ask himself what he wants out of the board, then find the board that comes closest to what he wants while staying within budget. All he stated was that he wanted to upgrade using a socket 1150 and that he would like a full size ATX board.h97-block-diagram-16x9-2.png
