OK, so i can just operate the WideBeam with it only being plugged into the PSU 4-pin SATA power andthe included remote control (all i wanted to do anyway)

Yep. I have the same kit and this is how it operates for me ;)

Hey, for my new pc build (http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/pMWzkT) , i would like CableMods WideBeam RGB lighting strip (https://eustore.cablemod.com/product/cablemod-widebeam-foam-rgb-led-kit-60cm/). I would also like the ASUS Sabertooth z170 S (https://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards/SABERTOOTH-Z170-S/).

On the WideBeam it says it needs ASUS AURA, i cannot find anything online saying weather the motherboard supports ASUS AURA and therefore supports the WideBeam RGB strips.

Can you guys help?

PC Build: http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/pMWzkT

Thanks,

Ben

Snip

Asus Aura is only supported on specific motherboards made by Asus. If a motherboard supports Aura it will be signed clearly in the name. an excellent example is https://www.asus.com/au/Motherboards/B150-PRO-GAMING-AURA/

So concluding...your Sabertooth will not support Aura lighting Strips.

I suck a typing, preparw for typos.

in the package of the WideBeam dose not have any specific motherboard cables, just SATA 4 pin power and the lighting strip connector, it mentions a ASUS compatibility adaptor

So, the widebeam supports all motherboards but will work the best with Asus Aura motherboards.

I think for normal motherboards you will need a led strip controller.

What do you mean will work best? i just want the WideBeam with the remote controller it comes with to change the colour of the inside of the case, i don't want any of the fancy strobe lighting or advertised 12 lighting functions.

Personally...I would opt Aura as for where I am, the motherboard is cheaper than the Sabertooth. But if you want to stick to your full white build then I'd say go for it and don't bother changing build theme.

ok, the price is good, but i will  do some more research on compatibility and features of both boards (trying to find youtubers using the lighting strips with the sabertooth)

ok cool, I guess it all comes down to compatibility and personal preference in the end. Happy searching :)

WideBeam LEDs do not require you to have ASUS Aura supported motherboard.

If you have the motherboard header and connect the WideBeam LED strips to it, then your motherboard software will control the LED strips. If you do not connect to it, then the LED strips will be controlled by the remote, that is included with the WideBeam kit.

OK, so i can just operate the WideBeam with it only being plugged into the PSU 4-pin SATA power andthe included remote control (all i wanted to do anyway)
