Hi, is the i7 4930k processor compatible with my MSI z87-g45 mainboard

You need a motherboard that supports the socket FCLGA2011

Nope wrong socket (1150), as mentioned you need the original socket 2011 socket (Ivy and Sandybridge).

As mentioned above you need a Socket LGA2011 (X79) motherboard. You will probably have a hard time finding one new for a sensible price, so ebay/2nd hand etc is going to be your best bet.
