Hi!

Lately I feel like my headphones (Just regular phone ear buds) are producing low volume on my pc, and I was wondering: Is the max volume I can hear determined by the headphones, sound card, or both? I feel like I should mention that when I use my phone I can hear louder, but I still I don't think it's only the sound card that is the problem, but the combination.

Well, the PC kinda determines how loud it's going to play. But if you have for example a volume wheel on your headphones/earbuds that also makes a difference. There are ofc softwares that help you boost sound but often it just makes quality go downhill.

yes it is the combination. if the sound card cant supply enough power for the drivers then you will get less sound. if the headphones have small drivers... well you basically have the same thing

And if I buy new headphones, how can I know if the sound card in the motherboard is enough? (The mobo doesn't have a model, it's a prebuilt pc)
