I've had an Asus gtx 650 1Gb sitting on my shelf for a few years and thought I would create a mini-ITX build project from it. I've built a fairly gaming orientated PC.

-i5-6600k

-Asus z170N-wifi

-Kingston HyperX Fury 2133Mhz 16Gb

-Coolermaster V650 80+ Gold

-a Samsung EVO ssd i had lying around

-Corsair H60 (i plan to learn and get into OC-ing)

-Corsair 380T Mini-ITX

I had plans to just upgrade the GPU later but since Mafia III is releasing, I've checked and my gtx 650 didn't quite meet the minimum requirement to play ....but guess i should of seen it coming.

Would appreciate some GPU suggestions. I don't mind looking out for used or new, just something decent which can play Mafia 3, GTA V, Division, etc at 1080p at medium - high settings and other games to come. I'm looking for something which is value of money, can't seem to justify to myself to fork out for the 980, 1080 titans as I'm not a devoted gamer, something around $300-400 AUD.

I would aim for a 1060 6gb, right in the middle of your budget and will play those games with ease

thanks for the replies. Can see the dominating choice is the GTX 1060. Is there any specific brands/style coolers i should be looking for? There's heaps on the market and unsure which to choose.

They'll all have pretty similar performance, just mainly go for the 6GB for future proofing, the only ones with better performance would be overclocked ones, but it mostly comes down to personal preference on brand

290 from 2012. Which is a re-brand of an old card from when they did 7000 and so fourth

""The Radeon R9 290 and R9 290X were announced on September 25, 2013""

also only the 280/x was a rebrand , of the 7950/70 :P

but yea to answer op: w/ 300~400 AUD you can either get a good 480 (powercolor , xfx , sapphire) or a 1060 ,

but its a thight budget for that

Thanks all for the suggestions. Managed to get the Gigabyte GTX 1060 G1 Gaming 6gb on special for $400.

Found a site which they compiled most of the mainstream GTX 1060 and their details like base clock, boost clock, size, etc if it helps anyone else.

would the gtx 1060 handle 1440p gaming comfortably with main-stream games like the new deus ex, the division, watchdogs 2 and etc?

I'm about to invest in a monitor and i am unsure whether to go for a top-of-line 1080p possibly curved and/or widescreen or a low-end 1440p both IPS, but before I do, just wanted to make sure gtx 1060 can handle it.
