Hello everyone!

So recently I've saved up some money (Around 320$) and I've been debating over what I should buy, and since I'm currently moving from Razer Kraken headphones to some more expensive headphones, I'm not really sure what to buy.

I've been looking at the V-Moda M100 headphones, and pair them with the SMSL A2 Stereo amp.

My other option was to buy some Beyerdynamic DT990 and pair them with the SMSL A2 Stereo amp ( https://www.massdrop.com/buy/smsl-a2-stereo-amplifier ).

Which would be the better option and why, also price wise, both come out the same, I'm most likely gonna go for the v-moda m100's, but I just wanna hear some other people's opinions first.

Oh and, pairing the headphones and amp with my PC wouldn't be a problem right? I have the MSI Z170A Pro motherboard, and quite alot of usb ports and such, so that should be all good right?

Thank you for your answers :)

PS : I'd be spending around 220$ on the vmoda headphones, so any good amp recommendations for 100$ or below?

I personally use the Sennheiser hd 598 with the amp built into my mobo. After a year of daily use I still love them.

why are you even thinking about a amp? Also the  SMSL A2 is a speaker amp, no output for headphones, so no you cannot use that with your headphones.

What kind of sound are you looking for? Boosted bass? boosted mids? boosted treble? A mix?

Before you buy amp and dac.  My thoughts on the M50x  Ultimate Ears Reference monitor review I might have a thing for audio...

My main Headphones and IEMs:  K612 pro, HD 25 and Ultimate Ears Reference Monitor, HD 580 with HD 600 grills

DAC and AMP: RME ADI 2 DAC

Speakers: Genelec 8040, System Audio SA205

Receiver: Denon AVR-1612

Desktop: R7 1700, GTX 1080  RX 580 8GB and other stuff

Laptop: ThinkPad P50: i7 6820HQ, M2000M. ThinkPad T420s: i7 2640M, NVS 4200M

Feel free to pm me if you have a question for me or quote me. If you want to hear what I have to say about something just tag me.

Oh, well I didn't know that its a speaker amp, as I've said before I don't know much about audio and what's best. Do you perhaps have any amps that you would prefer around 100$~ or would it be better to just buy the M100's alone and plug them straight into my PC? I've heard that amp's really do make a diffrence tho, but I'm not willing to blow 400$ on an amp alone, and when it comes to what I'd like is a mix.

You do know that the M100 are really basshead headphones right?

just use onboard, onboard today is generally pretty damn good.

only if you cannot power your headphones, but if they get loud enough for you, then you can power your headphones, it is basically that simple.

I have a pinned post where I talk about very basic things with amps and DACs, maybe give it a read if you want to get a basic understanding of them. A amp just makes the signal from a DAC stronger..

Alright, well I've read trough most of it, and I've decided that I'll order the m100's and try onboard, and if there's any issues I'll save up a bit and buy a decent amp. Thanks :)

My brother recently changed his previous headphones with audiophile headphones. He looksfor it in few shops, but the cost was very high. He got affordable full size headphones online at best deals from SoundMAGIC. The sound quality is amazing. He also told me that these headphones can be exchanged, if they do not satisfy one's music requirement. I think you should also try this once.
