Hi all,

I am about to revamp my home network, and I'd like to double check myself before making the purchases.

To explain my plan better, I attached a network diagram to this post.

The products I plan to purchase are as follows:

  • Switch: Ubiquiti UniFi 24 port 250W PoE
  • Switch (x2): Netgear 8 port GS308 (each used for rooms with an ethernet drop)
  • APs (x2): Ubiquiti UniFi AC PRO
  • Patch Panel: Cable Matters 24 port Cat6
  • Extra: Ubiquiti Cloud Key

Based on this and my plan, do you see anything that I may have overlooked, or do you think this setup should work just fine?

Thank you for your advice!

Hi SIRmisterD,

Is there a reason why you chose the US‑24‑250W? This seem over killed if you don't need the 24 ports. You are using two 8 port switch. I can't imagine you need ~37 port?
Else, everything seems nice.

Hi CatBoiler,

I went with the 24 port to allow for expandability in the future (more drops if needed, surveillance, etc.). Each of those 8 port switches are for separate rooms with only one ethernet drop in them.
