consider buying windows 10 from G2A or kinguin, its way cheaper. And you can get a Hyper 212 Evo for the same price on amazon (37 cad)

the 550 gs is pretty much the same as the g2 - its only 94 dollars too

for monitors - i personally really like this one http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824014374&ignorebbr=1

its a little more expensive - but looks way better and is for gaming

Would the i5 be able to handle content creation, for example, YouTube?

flight simulators and editing stations benefit highly from CPU power. there is nothing wrong with a 6700k + 1050ti for his needs. Remember, this isn't about the machine you want, its about the machine he wants.

That being said I agree with them in the sense that the 1050ti isn't all that powerful. I would recommend using the stock case fans instead of buying 30 dollars worth of extra fans, and putting that towards your GPU. You could also save a few more dollars on RAM if your workload doesn't need the RAM speed (step down to 2133MHz or 2400MHz). making a few changes like that (as well as maybe a slightly cheaper PSU) could step you up to an RX470/1060 3GB/1060 6GB (the RX480 is also a good card, but disproportionately expensive in Canada right now)

I changed the cooler, you may not like it but keep in mind the hyper 212 evo lets you put on any 120mm fan you want.

If you can afford it, that is a very solid build for what you need. Its also the kind of build that you could keep for a long time and just swap out the GPU every couple years when you feel want something better. There is nothing future "proof" about computers, but this one looks fairly future friendly =)

(also, good choice to step up to 3200MHz RAM, it tends to be slightly more stable at that frequency than 3000MHz from what I hear)
