So I was dumb and saved what I was working on to the computer and it crashed and when it reboots it gives me a black screen, I can see the mouse and all but the screen remains black. I've also tried to control alt delete and that doesn't work either. How do I fix this?

So do you know how to fix the pc?

Obvious question, but you say this is a school owned computer?  If that is the case, it shouldn't be your job to fix it.  You might need to have an administrator take the drive out and mount it in another PC to get your file.

Desktop: Intel Core i7-6700K, ASUS Z170-A, ASUS STRIX GTX 1080 Ti, 16GB DDR4 RAM, 512 GB Samsund 840 Pro, Seasonic X series 650W PSU, Fractal Design Define R4, 2x5TB HDD

Hypervisor 1: Intel Xeon E5-2630L, ASRock EPC612D8, 16GB DDR4 ECC RAM, Intel RT3WB080 8-port RAID controller plus expansion card, Norco RPC-4020 case, 20x2TB WD Red HDD

Other spare hypervisors: Dell Poweredge 2950, HP Proliant DL380 G5

Laptops: ThinkPads, lots of ThinkPads

Do you have any idea about the PC specs? If it's old it just needs time

What's up with that floatplane thing I've been seeing many people with?

If it's a really old computer, it might just need a lot of time to boot. Mine did that in the past, before the log in screen appears.

Also, just like @ultimatemythbuster said, it shouldn't be your job. You might break something that it's not yours.

It's the new Early Access system that Linus started.  For now, it provides DRM free videos that you can download from the forum website.  You can subscribe by going to the Store tab.

EDIT: Should note that this started due to Vessel being shutdown and it is very Alpha right now.

So this is a replacement for vessel? So I pay and get videos sooner without ads?

That is the idea.  Time will tell how well it works out.
