I am in search for an audio splitter. Any help would be great. I need to have two audio sources going into the same device. So I don't have to move the audio cable from the speakers every time I want to switch devices. The inclusion of being able to have separate output devices would be a bonus. I basically want a soundboard without getting a whole soundboard I guess. Thank You!

This one is cheap, and lets you mix two channels instead of just on or off (although on and off can still be done)

It's pretty cheap, and probably made cheaply too, but it's so cheap you could just buy a couple in case one breaks. That's my strategy! :)

Yes, it's 2871 as in the year 2871. I traveled all this way, back in time, just to help you. And you thought your mama lied when she said you were special-_-

You can get an amplifier like the LP-2020a+. It's a great amplifier for bookshelf speakers, and has two audio inputs for rca (which can be adapted to 3.5mm) and a 3.5mm input. It's a great option with a high quality build, but you need to do some work to adapt the output to 3.5mm.

This will not work.

Y cables do not "join" in the way you want them to. They can only "split". Even if only one is being played at a time. The problem is that the audio driving source sees not only the headphones, but also the other audio source, so it tries to DRIVE both of them, which changes the impedance and can possibly burn up your sources.

You need a mixer. Or, you need a physical switch (below) sort of like the a kvm but for audio only. Note, you could easily use a KVM as well.

Although the above switch is almost as expensive as cheaper 2 channel mixers, so yeah...

Just buy a cheap two channel mixer.

EDIT: Althernatively, you could go to your local wal-mart/electroncs store and buy an RCA switch. It's usually meant for TV, but you can use it just fine for audio. You'd also need a few RCA to headphone cords. RCA on one side, headphone jack on the other.

That would probably be the cheapest way to go. You could probably setup everything for $15 total if you shopped around.
