Is it possible to damage laptop internal display connectors?

Hi.

 

I have a broken 2010 MacBook that has a broken display. The pins on the display cable are bent to hell, and I'm not sure if it's the socket on the board that's sorta broken.

 

I was getting something on the display, so what I did was bent some more pins on the cable, and the image didn't change.

 

Is it possible that the LVDS socket on the board has gotten scratched or something, and if so, how can I fix it?

 

I intend on fixing up and selling this machine, and it is worth much less with a broken display than with a working one, and if it is the connector on the board, then well...

If it's the socket on the board, you will have to solder a new one on.
