1070 or 1080

Hello everyone, 

 

I'm buying a new graphics card and I can't decide between a 1070 or a 1080

seeing how a 970 was released roughtly two years ago and now it's having problems with maxing out games at ultra settings, I'm afraid if i buy a 1070 in two years it won't be able to keep up. i only play at 1080p. I'm able to buy a 1080 although if i did that I'll be broke for the next two months with a future proof system      

 

so guys ... what do you think

1080 is overkill for 1080p.

get a 1070 and save your money for next year's GPUs. I haven't seen good FPS on UHD/4k. With prices of 4k monitors coming down not even the 1080 will be future proof.

1070 can do 4k on certain games on certain settings. 1080p is easy as hell for 1070.

i see you have a windforce OC, i was going with the G1 gaming ... is there a huge difference between the two ?

Gigabyte G1 is $30 more in my country, and only has a .03 GHz increase.

Why would you think a 70 series card would keep maxing games out for two years after release? That's a completely unrealistic expectation. The 1070 probably won't either by the time it is two years old. Neither will the 1080 most likely.

I was seriously considering 1080 over 1070. But grabbed my self by the brain and could not justify the price difference for the performance. A minimum of 200+ dollars just cannot justify it.

While in 2 years - can sell this 1070 for a minimum of 200 dollars - and get an upgrade using those same 200 dollars difference.

But if you get a 1080 - in 2 years you won't be able to sell it for 400 dollars + those same 200 dollars difference usable for an upgrade of the same performance level as you can now.

Not sure everyone will understand what I mean cause I screwed up the order or words.
