So I've heard about the gtx 1080 FTW having issues with thermals on the VRM. I have one of those cards and i'm wondering if i should be scared, i'm not planning on overclocking my card or run benchmarks or stress tests, i use it purely for gaming at 1440p, so i don't know if i should worry about this or no. Getting thermal pads from EVGA is not an option because they don't ship to my country.

Any insight would be appreciated.

Nothing to be worried about. EVGA knows what they are doing and you will certainly get a top-of-the-line GPU for your money. By the way, the GTX 1080 was made for 4K, so try to utilize its full power if you can. :)

eh tbh 4K gaming is still iffy with a 1080, when the 1080 TI comes out then it'll be perfect.

Yeah, and even if i had a 1080ti, i would still keep playing on my 1440p 144hz gsync monitor, it's just WAY better than a 4k/60hz monitor.

I just hope my card doesn't fry :L

EVGA is handing out some thermal pads for free, IIRC. It'd be worth asking for them just for the sake of having them.

Luckily, I have thermal pads of various thicknesses in the server room so I just did it to be safe... and b/c I like taking things apart.
