Need help with photos!

So as you may or may not know, I recently got a 32GB flash drive to transfer my photo library to my PC.

 

The library is 17.34GB, yet when I transfer it it because ~750 MB, because it compresses the photos.

 

I've done some experimenting, and I found out that the resolution stays the same, yet the file size goes down.

 

Is there anyway I can transfer them for their actual size?? I.e on the photo library one photo shows up as 2.3 MB, yet when transferred it keeps the resolution but drops the size down by a lot, so how can I transfer it and keep the file size the same?

What program are you using to transfer the photos?

 

Also, make sure you copy over files  when you want to back them up, just in case something goes wrong with the device or whatever... always confirm your backups have completed succesfully before wiping stuff, unless you want to have problems trying to recover files later.

I'm just drag and dropping them to my USB from my Photo Library

So just windows explorer then, dragging from one window to another? if so then there shouldn't be any compression going on at all.

I'm using Mac, sorry if windows explorer means something else.

Nah, no need to apologise... I just meant that you may find more help there with your problem is all. I just assumed you meant windows drag and drop which would just copy the file when dragged to a different hard drive/device. I am guessing it is probably a feature of OSX which is making the files compress for some reason, but as I said I know pretty much next to nothing of macs. Good luck with it, hope you get the problem sorted :)
