Nvidia GPU+Freesync Monitor?

ManuBhai

Hi!

I am going to buy a GTX 1080, and I am looking for a monitor but right now the only affordable 1440p monitor I see is Acer XG270HU. But as it's a Freesync monitor... so will a Nvidia GPU work with a Freesync monitor. What will be the drawbacks?

As far as I know you can still use the monitor, but the frames won't adaptively sync.

I am not aware of any drawbacks apart from that...

Yeah there are no draw backs besides not being able to use the adaptive sync. It will just perform as whatever refresh rate it's rated at

basically freesync, the monitor syncing its refresh rate with the rate the gpu is putting its frames out

Generic term of G-Sync or Freesync.  If I remember correctly, monitor actually communicates with GPU, and adjusts frames to output of GPU which should in theory prevent tearing, and stuff.

Here, this should be helpful.  I'd imagine AFAP did a G-Sync video as well.  Long story short.  Freesync is a universal standard, not so much Nvidia.

tell me if it works at the desired refresh rate without the adaptive sync :D.

Strike the shepherd and the sheep will scatter.

It will. It will behave like any other monitor, apart for the Freesync/G-sync part not being used.
