I am wonderin if I should go with an ikea lack rack, ikea rast rack, or just build a server rack. I need to be able to slide the server out with rails to be able to work on it. So what do you guys think? If I should just build the server rack What parts do you think I should use? I know that it will be mostly wood with metal screws, and some U-strips (I mean something like 6-8U strips). Thanks for the advice guys!!!!

You can use everything for this purpose, but I'd highly recommend to build out of metal, because it's not flamable and it's conductive, so you can ground this thing and avoid static.

How expensive would it be if it was metal?

Wel... you just put your server here and that's it. If you're looking for something more 'professional', then ikea is not an option. There are some server racks on newegg, but they start from 200$.

I'm not looking at spending that much on a rack, and I don't think a shelf is good for my server. I need a actual rack custom built or modified from ikea.

Well everything you described in the functionality you want is an actual rack. Just save your money to get an actual rack as it's too much work than it's worth to build one.
