Probably the file system. Reformat it and see how it does.

I really don't want to reinstall Windows... My internet speed is 2mbps and today it seems like it decided to be 0.5mbps.

71 out of 250GB free, 2.33TB written.

oh, so it's pretty new and it should still perform fine at that level I think... I think...

can you find charts like they do for HDDs that show write speed vs % filled?  Just so you know you're not chasing a "problem" that's actually normal behaviour.

I can't find any, I don't know what to Google to find them :P

I'll try... gimmie a sec

Edit: @ShadowTechXTS

I did a search for HDD write speed images, and found a company called Simpli Software.  I then looked into their product line and discovered the product name "HD Tach".  Google that and the drive name (I did) and you should find charts showing all sorts of behaviour.  To be honest, I expected it to be more conclusive, but I can't tell if this is normal or not ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

At this point I would be tempted to wipe it with all zeros to get it back to "blank slate", but that would require reinstalling windows, and I don't know if it would work or not.

No, you can check if trim is on though. You could also image the drive, format it test it, then image it back again.

and then it went back down...

Could do a firmware check for the SSD. Sometimes it has happend there where speed degredations with SSDs after a while of certain usage. This could be solved by firmware update. Not sure if this also applies for the 850 Evo though.

And I don't think these write speeds are wrong for the 250 GB variant: it compares to the tests write speeds and doubt those have been 500 +.. Reading is faster overall then writing so maybe you got confused by comparing read with write speeds.
