Make the cheapest PC build that can run Battlefield 1 on ultra at 1080p 60fps

IAEInferno

Hi I recently upgraded my graphics card to a gtx 1060 6gb from a gtx 650 ti 2gb and now my friend who has been a console peasant all his life wants to play battlefield 1 without any screen tearing or stuttering since he has been playing battlefield 1 on his PS4 and he is experiencing a lot of stutters and screen tearing.

His budget is around $500, he already has a mouse, monitor and keyboard, he only needs a PC.

EDIT:He said he will work his ass off and the budget would be $700 instead of $500.

Strike the shepherd and the sheep will scatter.

Cheapest? Probably an R9 290X as it's the GPU that should run it at a constant 60 at max settings in DX12 and a locked i7 starting from Ivy Bridge (3770) to Haswell (4770,4790 or Xeon E3-1231v3). An i7 is necessary as BF1 is very CPU demanding.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D GPU: AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT 16GB GDDR6 Motherboard: MSI PRESTIGE X570 CREATION
AIO: Corsair H150i Pro RAM: Corsair Dominator Platinum RGB 32GB 3600MHz DDR4 Case: Lian Li PC-O11 Dynamic PSU: Corsair RM850x White

As I said, very CPU demanding. And yet people still say 'i5's are enough for gaming not to bottleneck any GPU" and we all know it's not true anymore.

I run with an r9 290x and a 2500k at 4.1GHz and that runs the game at ultra at between 55-60fps, so I'm not sure how much I agree with those cpu "requirements" though that's not to say something more powerful would be better

Oh I've seen people with i5-6500's complaining about the i5 bottlenecking their GTX 1060. And both the 1060 and the 6500 are faster than those in your current setup ;_;

Well I haven't been gaming for all that long, so maybe I'm either lucky or haven't developed the eye for small stutters and stuff like that :P I was upgrading from an Athlon 64 x2 and an HD5450 so I don't have very high requirements to please me lol

This will not run BF1 at ultra 60FPS, the first card that can do that is the RX 480, as even the 1060 drops below 60FPS.

And then you contradict yourself by showing an i5+1060 BF1 gameplay averaging 80-100fps.

I would ask him to up his budget a bit more to get a overall better build, ask him how much he can afford to spend more.

This is the fastest i5 available on the market. And bear in mind that with an i7 you eliminate stuttering which is present on i5's.

But, it will drop below 60 fps at some scenes. Not the stable experience really. (+You are going to deal with an i3).

i5-6500 + 1060 with identical performance

Saw it drop like 1% of the time from that digitalfoundry video. OP also never said anything about playing on Ultra or DX12 so he can always tone down a few settings.

I never said my i3+470 build would achieve constant 60, I was citing @Morgan MLGman's claim of the i7 requirement.

Thread name:

"Make the cheapest PC build that can run Battlefield 1 on ultra at 1080p 60fps"

Read before writing please.

Yes, read this thread:

i5-4430 + 1060 =  bottleneck in BF1.

Missed the title, my bad.

But that i7 claim still holds no grounds, since i5-6500 + 1060 clearly runs circles around BF1 at 80-100fps. It's not constant 60+ fps but 99% of the time it should be.

You mentioned people with i5-6500's complaining of bottleneck and then show me someone with a last gen i5-4430? He's got lower cpu clocks and hasn't even shown the rest of his specs.

You can replace the RX 480 with the GTX 1060 if he play other titles where the 1060 wins (In most current (usually DX 11 some DX 12) the 1060 wins), however for battlefield the RX 480 wins.
