Uberbudget Console Killer

waggythegeek

So, trying to design the most budgety-budget console killer for a friend, so he can finally get into PC gaming. Here's my current parts list: http://pcpartpicker.com/user/Slytthus/saved/wMkdCJ

but i haven't been paying as much attention to the new hardware news as I would've liked to(god damn school amirite) so please, tell me if this is any good. This is the ABSOLUTE price cap, going lower is preferable, give me bare minimum stuffs plz.

Just a guy who peaked at building back in the days of the GTX 980. If you see me here, assume i have technical knowledge akin to a committed hobbyist builder back then. If something's changed, you'll need to tell me(nicely plz). I'm probably asking for help with the modern build scene since I have no clue what's going on.

Its a super budget oriented build, how much SSD storage is $33 going to get you? It would be unusable.

128 not gonna be enough storage, and he doesn't plan to spend more money to upgrade any time soon

EDIT: also, don't wanna risk second hand for this guy's first build, or make him go craigslist hunting. Want this to be easy and painless.

Reddit is a little too iffy, is kinguin any better? I feel like i've heard better reviews about them, so if i go with legally gray keys, id like to do it there

its nice, balanced and cheap, yet sticks with mostly well-known, well-reputed products. Thanks for the suggestion!

It's called a red herring fallacy. He's distracting you.

Your build was good but there were areas that could have been better or more rewarding. For example, dealscube can be used for the OS key with the money saved put towards an SSD and HDD. Good build though.

This is how I would build the system. Granted I only spent about 10 minutes weighing the pro's and con's of parts. The G4400 is capable of 60hz in most games with some requiring lower settings but it also opens you up to a good upgrade later versus an i3. I added a nicer HDD and PSU for upgrades in the future since the 300W some users posted may limit you to lower-end cards. The case is personal preference so feel free to change it. Windows 10 keys can be found on dealscube.

I chose the GPU for the 4GB of VRAM and it's ability to push it effectively at 1080@60 not 1080@144 since the CPU wouldn't handle it very well.

Feel free to play around with it.

wow, what the fuck? I'm disappointed. I come to this website for computer building advice- Which is exactly what I got from @gtx1060=value.
