R9 380 Unable to update

excuse the format but the people over at r/AMDhelp arent always so "helpful"

 

 

Status: UNRESOLVED

 

Computer Type: Desktop 

 

GPU: MSI R9 380 4GB at stock speeds

 

CPU: Intel i5 4690k at stock speeds.

 

Motherboard: Gigabyte Z97N Wifi

 

RAM: 8GB Crucial Ballistix Sport.

 

PSU: Corsair CX600M

 

Operating System & Version: Latest version of Windows 10.

GPU Drivers: 16.3.2

 

Chipset Drivers: NA.

 

Background Applications: None

 

Description of Problem: Cannot update drivers at all. Ever since AMD replaced the 16.3.2 driver I have been unable move past it. My system doesn't let me. I have 3 monitors and I thought that might be causing the issue so I removed all but the main one and still got the same BSOD that I have been getting for months [here](https://imgur.com/a/kQxi2)

I have seen other R9 380 owners with the same issues. How the hell can I fix this?

 

Troubleshooting: I have run DDU multiple times and still nothing. Removing all but one of my monitors did not fix the issue. The only other step I could think of is a reset of Windows 10 (but that really isn't an option

Take out the card and use the iGPU to run DDU an then install the latest drivers. Maybe there's some file in your computer that stops the installation, that's odd.

 

And yeah, AMDHelp is close to being dead.

I tried that months ago and nothing. All I can do is install the driver version I am on rn without a care in the world. Looks completely normal, but anything higher and BSOD before it even switches to the native resolution......

Have you gone and deleted all your AMD folders? Try that with no driver installed

Ill give it a shot soon. God I hope this works. Running 16.3.2 is not going to remain relevant for long.......

Is Windows 10 up to date?

I'm honestly at a loss here. You say there are other 380 owners with this problem. Do you know if the 380x is affected too?

not from what I have seen on r/AMD or anywhere else.

I think you should reinstall your OS.

Defiantly not an option until I get the situation figured out about the Adobe Software my school has given me. Need to have those programs and reinstalling will delete them all.

No, the software is from a dedicated installer that my school district has installed on our personal rigs for students that wanted it. I dont know how they did it but the products are not linked to student accounts.

Good News, I have located the CC install and build.exe. I will put this file in about 4 locations and save it if I do perform a OS reinstall.
