[Finished] Project Mantis

I'm starting a new build. The previous PC I built a few months ago has some problems (check sig for specs), instead of putting more money into that PC, I'm making a new one. I'm hoping to have all the core components by the end of the year.

Mobo pin is bent, so fuck it and let's make a new build, I like that idea

But what's with that E logo from EVGA mobo? Looks so weird

I also like the fact you use the same SSD as mine :)

Are you Praying that this not gonna break anymore?

I agree on the E logo, needs to be sprayed black, and pretty much.

a dual 240 alphacool radiator system will be far enough for low fan speeds and quietness with thermal comfort. no need for the janky addition of the 120 in the i/o area.

the 240x30mm (st30 240) in the roof (low ceiling) and a 240x45/60 (xt45/ut60 240) in the front (lean more on the 60mm thick radiator. the 280 in the roof will be very crowded for the upper heatsink/RAM and 8-pin connector. plus wrong fans to use on the 280 (af140, not for high fin density radiators).

nothing against the xspc rads, but their newer v3 i feel is a cutdown on their original.

thats why i use the alphacool for options. if you have to use the xspc, locate a v2 for the front and a rs240 for the roof. the ex240 can be used, but the fin density is so tight, trying to match a low speed fan without noise is a tough search without spending massive wads of cash.

What Alphacool rads would you recommend?

The MSI board wouldn't post anymore, so I ordered another one, came dead, I have the CPU and GPU water-blocks, reservoir, coolant, also some other stuff coming, but I have to get a new board and the timing of this is very inconvenient.CXRvCIl.jpg

Before I start I know this was a lateral move. Alright Mantis is finished. I had to change a few things. I had 3 X99 motherboards that didn't work, returned all of them, the CPU sold that, and when back to the mainstream platform.  The reason I went for X99 was for the PCI lanes. So I ended up buying a Z87 Xpower (I got the Xpower at a good price because 2 of the ram slots are dead), and a 4770K. If you didn't know the Z87 Xpower has a PLX chip. Eventually I'm going to add a Wifi card, Pci-e ssd, and possibly another 980Ti . I'm thinking about swapping out the 4770K for my 4790K, the 4770K runs hot, 4.3ghz at 1.33v hitting in the 60's under gaming load, the 4790K does 4.7 at 1.32v and hits mid 50's while gaming. I got the 4770k becuase the bios on this board was V1.0 and it was at a good price. If you want benchmarks let me know. Pictures (The led's are purple in both photos and sorry for bad pics phone camera)
