Right, so the OS is seeing the controller as a device when it's connected, it's just not showing up as a game controller. So my suggestion is to uninstall DS4 Windows and find the DS4 in Device Manager (mine shows up as "HID-compliant game controller" but yours is probably using a different driver), right-click on it, then click Uninstall, then check the "Delete the driver software for this device" checkbox. Then either try installing DS4Windows again or try using InputMapper.

Windows 10 64bit wont recognize my ds4 controller anymore. Also games like Final Fantasy 14, which has built in support for the ds4, and Ds4Windows wont detect the ds4 either. This happens with the Ds4 Wireless adapter (from sony) or micro usb connection. I have had a weird history with the wireless adapter where if i unplug it it can never use that usb port again but will glow and even let the controller sync to it but nothing can detect it. But now its happening with wired connections too, even if its plug in and wired nothing will detect it, but windows will make a chime when i connect it with the cord.

I uninstalled the ds4 adapters drivers and reinstalled them in the Device menu and it did nothing.

Note: My xbox one controller works perfectly with all games still

I personally haven't had much luck with any DualShock 4 drivers outside of InputMapper, which works a treat for me. It's donationware and displays ads unless you donate, but I found it worked so well I wound up donating anyway.

As for what's going on, it seems like the driver installs correctly, but won't start up again in subsequent connections. Try completely removing the drivers (via Programs and Features and also via Device Manager by choosing to delete the driver software for the device when uninstalling the device in question), and give InputMapper a shot.

None of my drivers are in programs and features, or if it is its not named anything sony or Ds4. Also i dont see how InputMapper will help any if the OS cant detect the controller at all.

Despite its generic name, InputMapper is its own DS4 driver. But before getting deeper into that, just to confirm, if you plug the DS4 in, does anything change in Device Manager at all? Do you get a "device connected" sound?

You really cant uninstall Ds4, it never installs it just kinda opens, but the HID-compliant game controller was the issue and deleting both of them worked
