What are your thoughts on ZEN pricing. I hope Zen is around $200 for a 4 core. I hope it performs well or else I am going intel. I have my eyes on several intel chips. They are:

i5 6600k

i5 6400 - this is the one I want most. only $180.

i5 4690k

i5 3570k

If Zen is as good as one of these chips and at a good price I might get it but it will have to be quite powerful. I am no fanboy by any means. I am hoping to get the most for my money. At the very least, I hope Zen's release will lower the pricing on intel chips so I can save more money.

I just built my budget PC a few months ago. I plan to upgrade it in 6-Months to a Year. My current rig is my first PC. The specs are:

CPU: FX 6350, FX 8350

GPU: Radeon 7950 3GB, RX 470 4GB

MOBO: Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3 Rev.4.0

RAM: 16GB DDR3 1600MHz

STORAGE: 500GB 7200 RPM HDD, 120GB Sandisk SSD

The best anyone outside of AMD knows is to say it will probably be a little better price:performance than equivalent Intel. Basically if Zen is good, they'll price it higher. It may not be a simple 1:1 comparison though... maybe they'll enable OC on lower parts than Intel does which could create some interesting situations.

My thoughts based on recent performance rumors (and the fact that AMD has always priced competitively with Intel):

Haswell-esque performance for 10% less than Skylake/Kaby-Lake prices.
