Ubuntu

Hello to my future savior,

I am a open-source lover and I have successfully installed Ubuntu and debian OS on my old computers but now that I have my new gaming rig when ever I try to boot the system from an USB loaded with Ubuntu nothing works so I have try to go through the bios setting dozens of time for hours and nothing seems to work out with me. I have a theory that Ubuntu doesn't get along with AMD system because all I've install Ubuntu before its been Intel but now that I try the 4100 nothing seems to work it would be helpful if someone can prove me wrong and show me the right way to do it thank you in advance

What happens when you try to boot from the USB? Does it just not boot at all?

yes I did change the boot order on the system and I used ISOTOUSB to create the bootdrive does that matter?

sounds like it

it only lists bootable with windows OS.

I had the same problem when I tried to make a windows boot cd with unetbootin.

Will work for electronic components and parts

have run Ubuntu on my AMD X8120, ubuntu should work fine with all FX chips. Try installing it to the USB with Unetbootin, the USB is first in the boot order and that the motherboard supports booting of a USB (although it should boot from USB). I would also ensure the formatting on the USB is FAT32.

I think it depends on the formatting of the drive since i had to do this when i installed via a external HDD (which was NTFS), i had to:

1. Open the start menu (metro as well) and search for partition, then open change and formatt partition....

2. In the list find your drive right click it and see if you can click "mark partition as active"

3. Now try booting from the USB again.

I did try how you explain it(just using my USB) and still just goes right by it and my mobo is compatible with linux I checked on the BIOS version

If it still isn't working, try unplugging your HDD and leave the USB drive as the only bootable device then see if the mobo will boot to it. Also, is the drive plugged into a USB port on the motherboard itself or into a hub or a port on your case?

I try first plug into a hub then I switched to the actual connection on the back but I will try it unplugging the HDD next time then

which splash screen? the BIOS/EFI, the bootloader or the OS? how can the installation be going forward if you cant see whats going on? there's a bunch of stuff you have to confirm first.

The live USB itself should have a bootloader. In order to help you fix the problem, I need to know what's going on and where the black screen occurs. I suspect that its the video drivers not working properly, but I don't know where the problem is unless you can confirm if the problem occurs after you select the OS in the live USB's bootloader.

I think thats a video card related problem. Can you use other video card? Maybe an onboard card? After installing the system, you need to install NVIDIA drivers for linux and then install your video card.

Maybe this thread can be usefull too.

That output doesn't really say much, it's just part of the kernel message buffer giving hardware info on bootup. Does the black screen occur after this output then? what exactly happens after this?

I just partitioned my HDD and ran Ubuntu with wubi.exe. I tried once with a CD but it didn't work. Hope you solve your problem.
