Need advice on GPU or monitor upgrade

Alpine

Hey everyone,

Currently, my build is pretty un-balanced to be honest. My motherboard died and was struggling to source a brand new one in it's generation so I went with skylake in the end, problem is, my ASUS 670 decided to die at the same time, made me wonder if my PSU killed it.

Anyway, I feel like upgrading now, seeing as I can't play any of the new games at anything above low, but I wanted to get into 1440p, although from what I have read it seems like monitors will start going down in price in the coming years and just wondering if that's the general census everyone's getting?

My parts as of now, which are a combination of years of upgrading:

i7 6700k

ASUS Maximus VIII Hero

Kingston Fury Black 8x2

Gigabyte windforce 660 - Spare GPU

Corsair RM750

NZXT H440

I was thinking about purchasing these items and later on installing a custom loop aswell:

ROG STRIX OC 1080 8GB

NZXT S340 Elite Black

Asus PG279Q ROG Swift 27.0" 165Hz Monitor

So, would it be worth upgrading the GPU and tower, installing my custom loop and waiting a while to see how displays go, or purchase all at once?

Cheers,

You will need that 1080 atleast for that screen. However waiting for years on it is a bit waste of the rest for the setup. I would not wait if you can take it now.

The object of life is not to be on the side of the majority, but to escape finding oneself in the ranks of the insane.
