figure out a way to get a 6700k in there. stretch your budget if you have to. it will make a notable difference in high fps gaming.

Nope, it won't. And once you're above your monitor's refresh rate, fps starts to matter a lot less (input lag can be reduced with high fps, I've noticed)

yes. the 6700k helps with high fps gaming. that is 100% fact. if you are contesting that then you don't appear to know much about gaming setups...

That being said, you're right that once you get over your monitors refresh rate, you don't really see much benefit, which makes complete sense. but considering a 6600k is unable to get to 144hz in a lot of current AAA games (a game like BF 1, a 6600k gets around 100-110fps on average). So if it is your contention he is using that system for gaming on a 60 hz panel, then you would be right, a 6700k would not give any benefit. but that system would be way overkill for 60hz. The same argument would be made for a 6600k, as you could easily get 60hz on an i5 6400 or 6500 (or in many cases, even an i3 6100)

Little to no difference between the 6600K and 6700K in all but one case.

This is exactly what I mean... you really don't appear to know much about gaming setups...

Those results are indicative of GPU bottlenecks. They are not representative of the powers of the CPU. If you want to see CPU power differences, you need to alleviate the bottlenecks everywhere else in your system such that your CPU is the hardest working component. You can do this in one of many ways: You can get a stronger GPU (which he has) you can get a harder game to run (considering these are all slightly older games, you're quite likely to see that in his usage, especially going forward as newer games are released) or you can turn down graphical settings in order to inflate your framerates. This would be desirable in heavily competitive games like shooters.

Don't believe me? you mention there is "no difference between [them] in all but one case"... that one case you're speaking of is a Crossfire setup. When you increase the GPU horsepower, you can now start to see what makes the difference. You might be thinking "well its only 7 fps, that's almost nothing".... but at 4k that is a lot. that difference is going to be dozens of fps when looking at it in 1080p gaming when above 100hz. There is also no mention of what the frequencies of these CPU's are running at, or utilization, and that can alter the performance difference even more.

I mean for real, you link me a chart where an i3 4130T is comparable to a 6700k? Those CPU's are in entirely different weight classes. in the right games, sure, you sometimes won't see much difference. But when you NEED the extra CPU horsepower, you're going to wish you had it. and if you're after high refresh rate gaming (not the 50-75fps that is commonly linked in this thread) you are absolutely going to need that horsepower.
