install dos without floppy disk?

Im looking to install DOS without using a floppy disk due to not being able to actually write DOS to a floppy disk. The system im trying to install it on has a floppy disk but 

it presently has no OS installed. Neither of my other desktops support ide style floppy drives. I can connect the hard drive to one of my other desktops with a usb connector i have. could i put the files for dos on the hard drive and do it that way?

You don't have a floppy drive? Come on, [person]. It's 2016, you NEED a floppy drive, even if it's 5.25".

If it has a USB port I believe Rufus has a dos option built in
