I have been thinking about getting a new laptop lately for Christmas.

My current laptop has a failing ssd in it and I probably should buy a new SSD. The problem is that I don't want to spend 60 bucks to put a piece of hardware (that I would looove to put in my desktop for more storage) into it. And I don't want to invest more money in my heavy, ugly, thick, plastic, bluetinted-screened laptop.

I want a new laptop, but I don't really need it. I don't reaallly use a laptop. The ssd in my current one randomly corrupts my windows so there is a chance it may or not work every time I turn it on. I have to reinstall windows just to get it functioning again.

But the laptops I could afford aren't 'woah' laptops. They wouldn't be anything cool and eye catching like a xps 13, blade, gram, Mac, etc. They would just be normal laptops. Nothing impressive or neat.

So what would you do?

Just spend the $650 on a laptop you probably wouldn't get your moneys worth on?

Get a SSD?

Get a HDD?

This is what $65 for a new SSD could get me:

240GB SSD (ocz trion 150 or PNY CS1311)

or

2TB Western Digital Blue 3.5"

or

500GB used 2.5" HDD for laptop

or

FREE: Put a crappy old 250GB HDD that came out of some old Compaq laptop that may or may not be dying

or

FREE: Keep the SSD! Its fast! Just don't rely on, but don't worry! You don't even use it that much!

This is what $650 could for a new laptop could get me:

new cooler

and

more games

and

SSD for current laptop

and

new 1080p monitor

and

etc

etc

Thanks!

I am content as far as my CPU and GPU goes. The only things that could use an upgrade would be RAM, monitors, headphones, and storage.
