Front Audio Panel Problem

Hey guys looking for some advice, hope that somebody can help.

 

I have a Asus gene viii mobo with the supremefx audio drivers the TV audio works fine and so does the rear panel on the mobo. however.... when i plug my headphones into the front panel a message pops up saying a devices has been detected so i select head phones press ok however im getting no sound? ive tried switching over default output etc but no hope. starting to think that it might be an issue with the cable from the case to the mobo? any suggestions would help as im no expert.

You might be plugging the mic end into the headphone jack.  Is your sound on in Windows?  You might not have the front panel connecters in correctly as well, so you may want to take them out and plug them back in using the mobo manual.
