I know this is very general etc, but what do you guys think about using this for a FreeNas build?

I wouldn't use the included 1tb harddrive and I could get it for £170 (About $200)

I would use it for general file and media storage and backups for the PCs in my house.

I would RAID 1 and use 2 2tb hard drives. (This is possible right?)

The CPU scores 6015 on CPU Benchmark

I like using Plex for streaming films, how many concurrent 1080p streams could this cpu handle? Could it handle a single 4K stream? (I realise this may be a hard question to answer)

Seems fairly good to me, I would have to do a good look around ebay for similar servers to make a proper judgement.

 

The CPU is pretty damn good for what you want to use it for, native 4K stream yea it should do that fine.
