You'll have to use diskpart to run a "clean all" function on the drive to re-zero said drive. Afterwards you'll use the program to restore the image to the drive.

How about grabbing the save games off the drive and just reinstalling the games?

its a 1tb hdd full of games.............redownloading and installing will take a lifetime but right now macrium image seems to be working im at 22%

The saved games are likely on his other drive.

If you are using Steam, Steam itself has an imaging program built in.  You can use that to backup existing games so you never have to re-download.

Win + R (windows key + "r")

"cmd"

"diskpart"

"list disk"

Find the disk you need to clean.

"select disk #"

"clean all"

Get coffee or lunch.

Come back 2 hours later.

Done.

The image file was created on the new hdd, is it still safe to do the above or should i move it else where?

btw the new hdd already formatted before using.

I created the disk image in the new hdd

You can use the above to clean the old drive so that you can reuse it for a bit.

Now you need to go back to the cloning software and restore the image to your desired drive.

when creating the disk image, it asks you where you want to put it, i saved it in the new hdd.

New HDD is pretty full with disk image inside, gonna need to stop by walmart tomorrow and pick up a external drive to move my disk image to. After image is restored, do i need to manually change the drive letter or restoring image to new hdd automatically change it to previous letter?

Had to work all day, currently transferring image to external hdd, discovered the freaking drive was opened(box and drive cover) when i got home, ill use it in the meantime gonna return it when done.
