Hello everyone, I just upgraded my video card form a 660 to a r9 280 and for some reason the colors/contrast is sh*t and the text doesnt look as crisp as it was when I had the 660 in the system. I have already uninstalled the old 660/nvidia drives and the problem still persists. Not sure if this is relevant but the display on my monitor was a little over so I had to scale it manually to fit. Anyone got any ideas on how I can fix this?

As in the resolution you set isn't the native resolution of the panel? That would  certainly make everything look shitty.

When in doubt, re-format.

Both the gpu and TV(Monitor) are  both set on 1080 so I'm not sure why it would be overscaled like that.

Does it only look shitty on the TV or on both?

If the TV is overscanning (cutting off the outside edges of the screen) but the monitor isn't, you should go into your TV settings to disable overscan. Its called different things on every brand, but it would be in the "Zoom" or "display mode" or something like that settings. The mode you want to use will be called either "full, native, dot by dot" or something the like.

Also, are you displays mirroring or extended?

When in doubt, re-format.

I meant I'm using my tv as the monitor lol.So I disabled the overscan and it went to the right size now. Thank you!! Only problem left is the text crispiness? I went to AMD settings and it said this " Radoen settings has detected one or more high-DPI panels are connected to your system. Enabling Virtual Super resolution will increase your resolution and allow you to customize dpi settings." I turned it on and there doesn't seems to be a change. Also I couldnt find the customize DPI button.

DPI settings are in the windows display properties. Though AMD's software might also have it built in (I haven't used an AMD system in 5+ years so I don't know what their software looks like anymore)

That being said, if you are using a 1080p tv, that is NOT a high-dpi screen, and I don't know wht it is being treated as such by windows.

When in doubt, re-format.

Weird thing too is the the colors and res feels like a VGA display instead of HDMI. I'm going to hook it up to my friends monitor and see if it is the TV that is the problem.
