Im confused between the RX 480 4gb and the RX 470 8gb. Both are the same price in my country(MSI Gaming X versions).

Go with RX 480 4GB, it offers more performance. I doubt you'll use more than 4GB in most games.. But definitely the extra performance 480 is offering over 470 is useful in all situations.

I agree with @tlink

I use 4gigs of VRAM at 1080p in most newer games. For 1440p, you'll need more than 4gigs of VRAM.

i7 4790k | GTX 970 | 16GB

That's all you need to know. It's a beast.

4gbs is going to be fine for 1440p if you drop texture levels

otherwise the 8gb 480 is where you'll want to be at

and you already have the 1440p display?

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

Spoiler

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?
