the issue is nothing is better than the 6700k so if you want the best experience in games, an overclocked 6700k is really the only choice. (for high framerates (120+) in all AAA games)

Que? Why buy the better CPU cooler if not for overclocking? How would you use the money saved to get a better CPU when the K's are the top of the line?

If I look at the 6700 vs the 6700k... there are really 4 differences.

3.4 ghz vs 4.0 ghz clock

comes with a stock cooler vs comes without any cooler at all

locked vs do all the OCing you want

minor price differences

The price difference is (at least at here) usually smaller than the clock difference between the CPU's - even if you do not OC. However, that is when you do not take into account the 'hidden cost/benefit' of the CPU cooler. The biggest cost difference between the two is having to get an aftermarket cooler for the 6700k (which makes sense), versus being able to use the 6700 without investing in a CPU cooler at all as it comes with one.

So as a result I conclude.... either you get a 6700 and use it with a stock cooler... or get a 6700k with a custom cooler even if you're not overclocking.

It makes no sense to get a 6700 with a custom cooler, as you're already covering most of the extra cost for the upgrade without getting the extra benefit of the higher clockspeed.

The best of both is to get a none k cpu and overclock that.  If you want an i5 6600k get a 6400 or 6500 and oc that instead. Same goes. For. 6700 and 6700k.
