I just got a second hand Dell Optiplex 980 from a garage sale.

it currently has:

Processor: i5-650

Ram 8 GB of 1333Mhz ddr3

and a 320 GB HDD (im assuming SATA 2)

It doesnt have an OS on it at the moment. I want to put windows on here just because im used to it. I see that it has a vista PK on the side but eww i dont want to do that. Im trying to decide between windows 7 profreeional 64 bit or windows 8 professional 64 bit. Both of those are super cheap at my schools store and i dont want to spend the money on full priced windows.

I'm hoping the newer OS's arent too much for this old girl to handle.

Im going to be doing alot of photoshop, so im guessing windows 7 professional will be my best guess? I dont plan on it lasting forever but hopefully thatll work for a couple years. Im not sure if ubuntu supports photoshop? I know nothing about it
