Using two different graphics cards

Go to solution Solved by WereCat,

GTX 1060 will handle both tasks just fine but any way it will work.

I would just sell the 750 and use iGPU for secondary monitors. I am doing that now.

A quick question.

I am looking to upgrade my graphics card (GTX 750) to a GTX 1060. I was wondering if it is possible to use the GTX 1060 for my 144hz monitor for gaming while keeping the 750 for use with another monitor for other things (chrome, vlc, etc)? Or will the GTX 1060 handle both tasks just fine?

Thanks!

Laptop: HP Pavilion Power 15-cb002ne

CPU: Intel i7 7700HQ | GPU: NVidia GTX 1050 4GB | RAM: 12GB DDR4 | Storage: 128GB SSD (Boot) + 1TB HDD

You can do it. Just plug both in. BUt you can't decide which is being used on per program basis. The GPU that has the monitor plugged in will be the one that renders the image for that monitor. So if you want to use the old card for the old monitor, it's fine, but if you want to use the old card for chrome, you need to run chrome in the old monitor.

But I gotta say, there's no need for  this. The GTX1060 would me more than capable of running both monitors with a game in one of them and a non-3D application in the other. Even the GTX750 could handle that.
