Hey,

I am looking to build a new pc that can act as a workstation as well as a gaming rig. I was also wondering if I could set it up so that I can use it from school using a laptop (neither the laptop nor the internet will be very fast). I recently put together a parts list after doing extensive research, but as I was about to put the money into building it, in true #pcgamerproblems new, much cooler, more efficient hardware came out. I don't think I will be needing a Xeon because the work I will be doing on it will not be very precise, but I want to see if I can set the system up with newer components to put in a 7th gen intel processor, and expandable as possible. I had the 'Godlike gaming" motherboard on my other build sheet and it would be helpful if someone could tell me if there will be a 2016 or even 2017 edition to look forward to, although I would like to put the system together as soon as possible.

Thanks,

Here is a link to the machine I was planning to build (prices were different before):

Here is the pcpartpicker link: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/y9LhgL

Remember I want to start a new build entirely these are just old builds that I put together a while ago.

How about this http://pcpartpicker.com/list/Yq2dqk

Welcome back.

Nice build, but a few things.

  1. A single AIO on an 8700k? Do you know that Coffee Lake runs really, really hot? Your going to want at least a 280mm AIO on that puppy. The H60 will run it, but you won't get an overclock on it because it runs so hot. Look into a H115i.
  2. One stick of ram? Your missing out on dual channel. Buy a second ram stick of the same kind, or sell the stick and buy 2 8gb sticks so you get dual channel ram and more out of it.
  3. You have a Titan Xp, but only a 1080p monitor. You could have gone with a 1440p monitor at 144hz. Your budget was big enough and you could spare it.
  4. 2 M.2 drives, yet no spinning drive? You only have 240gb of storage. Buy a 240gb M.2 drive, and a 2TB hard drive to give you storage. (You do have the external drive, but it is a good idea to have internal hard drive space.)

Just some friendly feedback.

hi.
