long range wifi?

Hey guys I just saw this video and I thought at first that antenna just boosted your wifi range but you need to have two points is there anything that will boost my wifi range a lot not just in home but far outside? thx

That antenna just sends the signal to a specific point, almost like transferring the speeds (its highly directional). You only real option for what you want is to either get a single more powerful router which simply has better abilities to project the wifi, or to buy several APs (access points) and to spread them around your property.

The issue is, even if you increase the range of your router doesn't mean your network range increases. Keep in mind, WiFi is a two way street. Data has to be transmitted back. So even if a device can detect your network. If you too far away, then the device cant transmit the data back to the router. The solution in that video is a fixed wireless solution. This is what you use if you have a site that you need connected to your network. 

 

What are you trying to do? Connect a building too far away from your current network? Or just extend WiFi range?

That aint going to happen. You need to have multiple access points along the route. Which means you need data cables running to each and power. Plus your ISP is not going to allow you to do this. And yes, they can stop you.
