I own a asus r9 290, i'm thinking of picking up another 290 second hand. can get em for 100 eu's so its fairly cheap.

2 questions

Would i really benefit from crossfire if i play 1080p

Do i need the same card from the same company or does that not matter?

thanks for your time.

is it for 1080p 60fps? a bit of a waste to go crossfire unless you plan on getting a 144hz monitor. though it might be worth it for maxing out newer titles

and i'm assuming your PC can handle 290s in crossfire?

correct 60fps, but i am planning to buy a 144hz. the only thing i would need to change is the psu because it's 550ww

then that's fine. keep in mind too that some games don't have unlocked framerate

as for the psu check out this list. stay above Tier 3 and get at least 700w

what's your CPU by the way?

It's plenty.

Any 290 will work and whether cf will benefit you will depend on the game.

i recommend getting an i7, just to rid of all bottlenecks. think you can postpone getting a second 290 and monitor to get an i7?

isn't the only difference with the i7 hyperthreading and somewhat a bit more performance? i read that upgrading to an i7 for gaming literally has no purpose

for some games it makes a big difference but don't worry about it

marked it as solved by accident, location is the netherlands and anything under 100 eu will work.

the i7 will help in maintaining the high framerates, if you don't want to drop performance. also at 1080p the bottleneck is more apparent with an i5

Alright nice vid, although i don't really see the point as of now. if i would go for an i7 that would mean i can't afford the second 290 so i wont come close to the 144fps anyway. if i keep the i5 and crossfire the 290's i would reach far more fps rather then 1 single 290 regardless off the 'bottleneck' so i don't really see the point in investing 400 euro's for 20 more fps.

getting an i7 is more for future-proofing.
