You know how mechanics drive old beaters. Yep, well tech people often have one old computer they just love.

I consider myself one of those!

My system is a conglomerate of spare parts.

Motherboard - DP43BF

CPU - Xeon X3220Go 2.4Ghz

Memory - 6GB

Harddrive - (3) 500GB SSD in Raid 5 with (2) 64GB SSD for a Cache

GPU - GT 430

Case - Zalman

OS - Windows 10

PSU - 500w Redundant

PCI x1 Card - USB 3.0 4 Port

PCI x1 Card - Gigabit Ethernet 2 Port

I have never had a single failure from the time I installed all the parts until now and that has been 6 years ago. The system runs 24/7 minus reboots for updates

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

You've got SSDs m8. Kind of like sticking a rocket engine into one of those old beaters

Also, why have SSD caches for SSDs?

Its for updates and security definitions from the web so the rest of my computers and devices just pull from it instead of the web.

Its called a sleeper lol

SSD's made a huge difference in my systems performance. Dreamweaver and Photoshop use to really bog it down but with the SSD's it's a nice speed increase in load times.

Sure I could build a system that is better, and maybe one day she will be retired. For now, I can't complain.

I have plans for an AMD Zen build when they finally are released and I will be upgrading to a GTX 1060 GPU. As well as 32GB of DDR4 memory.

But this system is still going to be used until the motherboard or CPU die.
