Rendering/ Research

So, my friend wants to build a new system that he will use for rendering (Premiere Pro is the one he's planning on using but may switch to another one if he doesn't like it), Space Engine V2, light gaming, and "Research" (Folding@Home, GPUGrid, World Community Grid). With the focus being on the research part of things. 

Budget is $2500 CAD (Inc Tax 5% GST in AB) So before Tax will have to be below $2375

Parts already owned: SP550 240GB, Windows 10

His requirements: 4k IPS display, MITX, Corsair 380T ($180 Inc Tax and counts towards the budget)

 

Also would I5 +1080 or I7+1070 work better in this scenario where research is more important than rendering?

the i7 would be more relevant for editing and "research" the 1070 is already a great card so why not?
