Hello everyone!

I recently sold my old FX8350 and bought a 4790K plus Mainboard(both used).

So this is my rig right now:

Processor:    4790K

Mainboard:   GIgabyte Z97X-UD5H-BK

RAM:            16G(2x8G) 1333Mhz

GPU:            EVGA GTX970 sc

PSU:            be queit! Pure Power L7 (630W)

HDD:           1TB Seagate Barracuda

SSD:           none :c

My problem:

Since I rebuilt my Computer with the 4790K and Mainboard (instead of the FX8350) and installed Win7 Ultimate it just turns off(no bluescreen or shutdownscreen just BANG-off) and then immediately restarts, asks if I want to start in safe mode and then just runs as usual... until it crashes again.

I've tried to cause this crashing several times but I can't find any pattern in it:

Situations it crashed in:

  • while trying to upgrade to win10(yeah hate me for this) using the media creation tool          //like three times in a row... then worked until it stopped while searching for updates
  • while Installing TeamSpeak and the most recent graphics-driver at the same time               //once... never tried again(worked seperated)
  • while Installing .NET Framework during first start of a Steam-game(Arma 3)                       //twice... then worked
  • while Installing .NET Framework manually                                                                            //once... then worked
  • while starting Arma                                                                                                                //once... then worked
  • when I tabbed bach into Arma after opening TeamSpeak and Chrome                                //once... never tried again
  • when I opened Chrome while Installing 3DMark                                                                   //once... never tried again
  • while starting the first benchmark of Fire Strike                                                                    //once... then worked until loading the combined one after the physics

Usually in the BIOS there's an option on the save page to "restore optimised defaults". Failing that, there a little jumper on the motherboard. Move the jumper while the system is off and mash the power button a few times. Then move it back and it should be reset.

Reseat the CPU.

what should that change ?

...

can't do that(at least today) because i had to cabletie-mount the cooler onto the CPU(temps are fine) and I haven't got any ties left so I wouldn't be able to re-mount it.

I had to tie it down because it's a 775 cooler and it won't fit.

Okay... so today I tested another power supply                                                                  //system crashed again but after playing arma for like an hour or so

now there are only three parts left which I didn't test yet:

          a- the GPU

          b- the processor

          c- the Mainboard

EDIT: tried without the GPU... only Intel HD graphics.... aaaaand, you guessed it: CRASH!
