Upgrading RAM

When I built my computer just under a year ago, I installed 16GB of DDR3.  I know upgrading to 32GB is a little bit of overkill, but it is something that is going to happen in the near future.  Looking for a 32GB DDR3 kit is kind of difficult.  I know RAM is very particular,.. Can I buy another 16GB kit that is the exact same brand and model and expect it to work with the approximately 1 year older kit?

should be fine, thats what I did with my laptop it was SO LONG between adding the price difference from 1 16gb kit to the same one was almost a 100 bucks price difference. $165 minus a 16.50 discount for the first kit in October 2014 and 58.99 minus a 5.90 discount for the second IDENTICAL KIT back in May this year
