Questions about android wear

So I have a Asus Zenwatch 2 coming in the mail on Monday. Anyone know if I can use my HTC one M9 to give it a cool watch face but then re-connect to my iPhone? Or will that break everything

It actually works with iPhones, but not all functions and features are available.

I actually have a ZenWatch 2, but I use it with an Android phone.
I  think it should work, because the watchface is saved on the watch itself.
