I3 for Gaming and Editing

Hi,

so I got an offer for 200$ with, i3 4330, h97 mobo, ssd+hdd, gtx 730 and windows. Is it worth it to buy this used if I want to record cs go and gta v 720p hd 60fps+ max with a face cam (c920) at the same time while filming with audacity open aswell. And also later edit the video and maybe some once in a week streams?

The i3 will shit itself just trying to run GTA V @ 60FPS, much less recording it.

But would this CPU with gpu allow 720p 60fps enjoyable recording with multiple programs also opened like audacity and playing at the same time and later video editing?

No, which is why I said the i3 would shit itself just trying to run GTA V at 60fps. The i3s are not really good for gaming anymore, much less recording it. The minimum you should aim for is an i5, though a 4th or 6th gen i7 will be fantastic.

That i3 is about the same as the new i3 6100 which is a very good budget cpu. It is dual core hyper threaded and should manage to play both games fine if you are okay with turning down some settings(first would be to play at 720p, which also has the benifit on not needing to be scaled in recording.)

The GPU however is very bad, it is woefully inadequate for anything gaming. If you have an extra ~$100 i would pick up a gtx 780 on ebay. Yes this will probably be bottlenecked by your cpu, but you can take advantage of this and use shadowplay (nvidia's game recorder which uses the gpu rather than the cpu to encode). Also audacity and the face cam aren't any real hit to performance.

 

Editing will be slow, but not unbearably so. I have managed on a i5-6200u for a while now, its not the quickest of workflows, but it will work.

 

You will have a 4th gen processor meaning that later down the road you should be able to upgrade to an i5 of that generation, or pick up the i7 4770 on ebay, without needing to upgrade your motherboard. But until then the current cpu will function admirably.

And also put an elgato hd 60. Will I be able to record/stream games at good quality? or still no?

The hd60 can encode on its own hardware, taking stress off the computer. So you will be able to record at as high a quality as you are able to play. However it is still best to upgrade the gtx 730, it is just not intended for gaming. There are plenty of adequate cards you can pick up used for nothing.

What gpu would be able to max 1080p 60fps GTA V, CS:GO? And would this cpu handle the weight of the games?

Here is the settings your going to be looking at on 1080p 60fps (your cpu will be better than this one) with a gtx 960 or r9 380/280x:

-Rx 470 (its new, but in range)

 

My recomendation if you go with this pc (it is a good deal) would be to pick up one of these gpus now and then upgrade the cpu to a more powerful haswell i5 or i7 at a later date.

I think I wont get this deal, because he is not willing to sell without the gpu, cause If he sold me without gpu I could probably now buy also 770. But if I buy with 730 I probably cant upgrade for 3 months...

Thanks for help :) I already turned it down. Trying to sell my macbook pro 13 2014 128gb for 700€ and then make a pc :)
